Fabric Flowers from leftover scraps

Fabric flowers add interest to your outfits. I bought the Kanzashi Flower maker by Clover Mfg of Japan at my local Michael’s retailer. Once you get the hang of it, you will be adding them everywhere, on slippers and pillow and hats. I sewed a neat triplet on the neckline of a very simple, pleated-front tunic. The finishing touch was a button and bead atop a splay of frayed squares.

And don’t toss out any material leftover when you hem up a too-long store-bought dress or pants; those scraps will be just the right amount to jazz up collar, cuffs or hem. Even the narrowest strip can be attached in a spiral shape or wavy line for extra creative dimension.
